I don’t think I’ve ever been so besotted by an artist as I am with Paul Davies. Seriously. Since discovering his work a few years ago I’ve been bent on owning a piece and when I heard he was having another exhibition in October this year, I got pretty excited.
So excited actually I started rounding up family and friends to pitch in for one of his pieces as an early birthday present. I’m going to be turning 30 in Jan, shock horror, and his stuff starts at around the $5K mark and keeps going and going …. so this seemed like a genius plan, no?
I signed up to get on online preview of Mr Davies new collection, PORTRAITS, prior to the exhibition so I could snap up one of his pieces.
The preview went live at 5.14PM September 21st.
By 5.19PM when I actually saw the email, every piece I wanted was sold. And even the ones I didn’t want. No shit. Can you believe that?! I was gutted to say the least. Devo even.
Apparently he sells out faster than a Justin Bieber concert.
The Tim Olsen Gallery was nice enough to let me know he will be releasing more works early next year … just in time for my birthday.
